Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as a news reporter and anchor for WPDE-TV. O'Dell later became an anchor for morning news at WCBD TV and also as a crime reporter. Her reporting of the ineffective police response in response to DUI incidents in Charleston led to an investigation being conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, that led to a revised directive from state authorities regarding DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell was awarded the Best Report of the Media Award in South Carolina by the Associated Press. O'Dell's experience in Charleston has led to her serving as a co-anchor, reporter and NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV. Before she joined Access Hollywood she was a anchor on the weekdays and was also NBC's weekend co-anchor.
